control over project portfolio

Lost business due to lack of control over Resource Management

Challenge

A life science company faced serious challenges with its portfolio and resource management and lost business opportunities due to constant delays of innovative product launches.

Contact Project management and learn how our senior project manager helped them to immediately get control over their project portfolio again, through a clear prioritization of all resources for 2-3 month ahead and precise planning, delivering all milestones on time.

Solution - regaining control over the portfolio

By implementing a visual face-to-face resource management process, the new play rule “a deal is a deal” dominated the fact-based decisions and behavior of the steering group, project managers, and line managers from marketing, R&D and operations across functions.

The simple designed business process and clear governance ensured that all the participants from marketing, R&D and operations kept their promises, also in daily work. As all steering group members became loyal to steering group decisions and the program directors/project managers were able to meet the agreed deadlines with the steering group by making detailed resource planning with a IT planning tool/Excel– as direct input to the resource management process.
